As you enter the premises, you immediately get to enjoy the green garden that surrounds our pool-side bar - your first stop for a fresh beer or delicious cocktail.
You will be given the choice between ensuite privates or dorms inside the house and some more social dorms and cottages built in the yard.
Our swimming pool allows guest to enjoy a much appreciated morning swim.
After chilling a bit in the stiltz lounge at the back of the yard, you will be able to grab breakfast with some other sleepy backpackers in the common area under the makuti structure. Or you can grab a book from our library, or play a game of pool with a friend.
There is also a chef on-site from 6:30 am until 9pm everyday.

Diani Backpackers requires a 50% deposit (refundable for valid cancellations) to secure your reservation:
Option 1) Within 24 hours of booking provide us with the CVV code for the credit or debit card used to make the reservation. We will charge your card for the valid deposit amount +4% transaction fee.
Option 2) We will send you a secure payment link via our payment processor Pesapal to your e-mail. Simply click the button in the e-mail, and enter your card details... and bam. You've paid your deposit and your reservation is confirmed. Please note this also attracts a 4% transfer fee.
Option 3) Send your deposit by M-pesa. If you wish to do so, please provide your Safaricom phone number and we will send you a payment prompt.
Cancellation Policy: Free up until 72 hours before check-in date. 100% payment for any late cancelations or no-shows.
Diani Backpackers reserves the right to take payment in advance of check-in date, or place a credit authorization on credit/debit cards.
Taxes included
We accept all major credit/debit cards, Cash (Kenyan Shilling) and Mpesa.
Please note Diani Backpackers is not a family orientated location, for this reason we do not accept bookings with children. It is possible to check in at any time of the day provided prior notice is given and subject to availability.
We do provide free baggage storage, and free parking (subject to availability).

Brilliant Hostel in every aspect. Great place to meet fellow backpackers and the staff makes you feel more than welcome. The wonderful guys who runs the place treats you more like a good friend than just a guest. Food is great, beer is cheap, a beerpong and a pooltable is on set. If really focus and look closely you will see that the bottom of the pool even looks like a zebra;)
Is there any more to wish for?? Don't think so

We stayed in a 6 person dorm. Overall our stay was pleasant. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Things to note: 1) Road leading to hostel (~200m) is not paved and very rough. 2) Hostel is about 15 min walk from beach. 3) Free bath towels are provided based on availability. We had to wait 1 day for ours. 4) There was a security camera in the sleeping quarters of our dorm. 5) Like other Kenyan coastal areas, courtesans are common. 6) Two security deposits required (website vs Backpackers).

overall a great stay! It was low season when I went so there were fewer people that there would normally be, but even in those circumstances there was a good atmosphere!
One thing for me that was a downfall was that there is no kitchen for guests! One of my top ways to save money and something I enjoy doing a lot while travelling is cooking my own meals. Not having a kitchen for customers, or even a fridge, was pretty annoying. Usually it’s a given that hostels have this facility!
