Welcome to the Great Wall Box House, locates at the most traditional but non-touristy Chinese village -- Gubeikou, 120 km to Beijing. It's a 100-year-old Si-He-Yuan house among the mountain, the east-side-wall of the house is a part of the Great Wall. So our house is located in the countryside, not in DOWNTOWN Beijing.

Considering other similar accommodations, this place was absolutely above all expectations. The hostel has an incredible design, very clean, everything is new and fresh. You can see the Great Wall if you look up your room window.The staff, Xiaowei, was the most welcoming person in China. She helped me and another guest with all the stuff we needed, she cooked delicious meals for us. It was really precious to be there in this hostel. I recommend it to all who want to visit Gubeikou Village.

Couldn’t believe the hospitality from the host, xiao wei. She was fantastic. So helpful and kind. Amazing cook too! The meals were excellent. Hostel was gorgeous, a literal villa in the centre of a 3rd-world village. Amazing. Comfortable, air conditioning, great common area/lounge, hot water and nice bathrooms. Only downfall is the hostel is very difficult to find. 10min walk to be on the Great Wall, zero tourists. 20min taxi drive to be at the beautiful Simatai town Great Wall. Make sure you set up your W
