Formerly an artillery factory in the 18th century and later a prison, this historic property has been renovated to include modern comforts but maintains some of the look of its past. Rooms at the P.Loft Youth Hostel include air conditioning and en suite bathrooms. Free Wi-Fi is available.
Relax in the library or the DVD room. A bicycle rental, laundry services and tour information is also available.

Great location! Close to the Lama Temple and a subway.
The bed are comfortable.
The toilet and shower facilities are very minimal and are not really clean.
We did a Great Wall tour with the hostel. Which was badly organised, and our "tour guide" (who was just a taxi driver), did not speak English.

Excellent experience at this hostel. The staff and owner are extremely kind and helpful, they made us feel very comfortable and welcome the entire trip and we will miss them. This spot is so cool as it's right off the lama temple and centrally located off Beijing subway line no. 2. Great environment for travelers and you don't get better hostel staff, a terrific hostel experience. I would stay again without hesitating. Thank you hostel staff and owner you are appreciated very much!

Why am I leaving a review when you have no choice - this is pretty much the only hostel in Beijing. It's extremely average. They sell it as a prison experience, but that's an excuse to provide zero luxuries like secure lockers and toilet-roll. This hostel redeems itself with the international mix of guests it guests from genuinely every continent. If you're lucky you can make lifelong friends here. (I'm being a bit unfair, I went on their Great Wall tour and it was pretty good).
