Hostel San Marcos is located 20 meters from one of the most beautiful lakes in the world – Lago Atitlan in the Western Highlands of Guatemala. Our hostel features laid-back cabana-style accommodation, its own bar, a private garden with hammocks, a residents’ lounge with TV room and movie features. Common areas does have wireless internet connection. In the reception we have a refrigerator with ice cold beers and our selection of wines, rums and whiskeys. All the rooms are decorated in a way you will feel in woody cabanas with local made furniture and decoration. The shared bathrooms are equipped with gas fire boilers with guarantee hot water 24 hours a day. The rooms are made with natural light features.

Vi betalade för mycket eftersom vi bokade via hemsidan och behövde betala en liten del av summan och på plats resten. Detta resulterade i att vi betalade för mycket och när vi sa till om detta låtsades dom inte förstå någonting. Vi skulle söka upp manager Paul, som vi letade efter hela dagen men aldrig hitta.. känner oss lurade faktiskt

The volunteers were great. But the owner of the hostel and Restaurant Fe was treating people from the hostel with a nonchalant behaviour in comparison to paying customers in the restaurant. Also the Guatemalan staff in reception did a mixup with the rooms and didn't care to keep their word and was rude afterwards.

Place accepted my booking, but when I got there they said they were closed. I'm not sure if it was for the season or permanently, but the lack of communication beforehand made for a stressful afternoon.
