Best location!! Free pancake and fruit breakfast!! Great coffee!! Close to downtown, bus terminals and the airport bus stop. An ideal place if you're passing through San Jose on your way to another destination. Inside the hostel there is a fully-equipped kitchen, dining room, TV room, backyard patio/garden, book exchange, computers with Internet, free WIFI, free coffee, sitting areas, showers with hot water, and luggage storage for returning guests. Visa and Mastercard are accepted :)
Relax Hostel is located one block from the east end of Parque La Sabana, just off the highway from the airport, one block south of Paseo Colon, on the west side of downtown San Jose. The bus stop for the airport bus is 4 blocks away, and the bus terminals are just a short taxi-ride. There are a few grocery stores, restaurants, bars, and other stores within a few blocks. The best place to shop for food is an open-air market open every morning, 7 days a week, about a 10-minute walk from the hostel.
The dormitories all have comfortable bunk beds with all bed linens provided, as well as towels and blankets. There are lockers equipped with electrical outlets just outside the dorms to keep your belongings in.

It is a good hostel, and the people who worked there were nice. They have free breakfast, but you have to do the dishes yourselves. Close to a few busstops, and the bathrooms were nice enough. It does not have a lot of spaces where you can meet other people and just hang out, so I wouldn’t say that it is a social hostel, but it worked for a night or so

This place really needs an update! The bathrooms are grotty, the rooms are musty, the place looks like a time warp. It has some nice murals but honestly it's just a dump. The sofas are on their last legs, the info and posters are dusty. It's such a shame as it's a big hostel with lots of potential but they could start with spending some money on new sheets!! Our bed sheet had no elastic left and kept coming off the mattress, the double private room is tiny. Lights are old and dim, not charming.

Spent the night in order to catch my flight the next morning. Just a short walk to catch the airpprt bus, very convenient. Staff and owner were great, bathrooms were huge and also good breakfast and coffee in the morning.
