Step back in time at HI Sacramento, a beautifully restored Victorian mansion in the heart of California’s state capital. The hostel boasts elegant parlors, private and shared bedrooms full of period details, a fully equipped guest kitchen, outdoor patio, and a game room. Guests enjoy free Wi-Fi, complimentary breakfast, luggage and bike storage, and much more! Free guest activities are hosted each day, such as Taco Tuesday, dinner nights, movie nights, weekly pub crawls and afternoon tea time. Just blocks from the hostel, guests can explore the State Capitol, DOCO Plaza and Golden One Center, as well as the riverfront shops and museums of historic Old Sacramento and the hip bars and restaurants of Midtown. The American River Parkway is close by if you fancy a relaxing bike ride along the river (ask us about our bike rentals!)
Accommodations are available in shared gender-specific or co-ed dorm rooms, or in private rooms. Most rooms have shared bathrooms, but two private VIP rooms with private baths are available. Upstairs dorm rooms feature classic Victorian fireplaces and tile work, and a mahogany-railed staircase and mezzanine overlook the lobby beneath a huge painted-glass skylight.
The hostel’s fully equipped kitchen is the perfect place to store food and prepare meals. Guests can opt to eat in the hostel’s ornate dining room (complete with chandelier!) or on the outdoor patio decked out with tables, umbrellas and a BBQ. Relaxing in a hammock on the front porch is a delightful way to spend a lazy afternoon before checking out the local nightlife!
