An auberge translates as an inn and ours is situated in a 1875 warehouse, which we restored and rejuvenated. The basic attributes and rich textures of the old city building: the rock walls, the old hardwood floors, the arched windows and high ceilings.

The Auberge Alternative is an budget boutique hostel. The art of travelling moves us through internal as well as external landscapes and often a creative urge demands to link the two. The Auberge Alternative is an eco-friendly and artsy hostel providing accommodation and resources to travellers and artists alike to join us in redefining bohemia. Welcome to the Alternative.

Please note that we are on three levels, with no elevator.

Really enjoyed the stay here. Pros: Free tea and coffee, space to cook your own meals. Lounge is so nice and welcoming. Staff is amazing. Very responsive and friendly. Vibes are amazing if you like communal hostel living. Great systems, very traveller-friendly. Cons: A bit cramped for big luggage haulers. Messy during the winter. Notes: consider selling slippers for a fee?
