Maca is a young adult oriented Micro-Resort located on a lakefront property of Panajachel, Lake Atitlan, just a few steps away from the town's bustling hostel, hotel and entertainment district without being too close to over-saturated vacation spots.
Maca Hostel & Micro-Resort was built as part of an ecosystem that includes a club in Guatemala City and our sister club Azul Rosa in Panajachel right next to Maca. These are internationally renowned bastions of avant-garde electronic music and culture and make it ideal for groups or couples that are interested in checking out the local music and bar scene as well as Atitlan's world-famous pink sunsets and volcano vistas.
Important: Bar activity in the immediate vicinity finishes at 1am in town. Because of that you will experience music (sometimes loud) until that hour, this acommodation is definitely not for anyone seeking rest before that time.
Each cabin in Maca is located in a perfect position for sun-gazing, taking in the view and enjoying a good night's rest after taking in all the district has to offer.

The rooms only have enough space for the bed and a few inches on each side. Large backpacks and luggage will barely fit inside.
The walls are thin, you can hear the outside bathrooms doors slam shut as well as the front gate.
There is no 24 hour reception, I had to find someone at a nearby bar to call the host and check-in , I just left the key on check-out.
For the price ,we expected more. Pallet type floors and Sheetrock walls, defective interior door lock. I will not recommend.

No 24 hour reception, in fact no staff at all. Bathrooms were shared with the beach bar and they were not cleaned at all during our stay. Showers were cold which isn't a big deal but they advertised shampoo/body wash in the showers which were absent. The Selina beach bar played music until 2am every night which we were aware was a possibility but it was so loud our cabin shook. View was nice but not worth it, if you come to Lake Atitlan, I would not recommend staying here.

A little bit difficult to navigate to the actual site of the hostel and no real reception area. Once navigated it’s in a great location with a wonderful view and clean facilities. Does not feel the safest especially alone.
